My first job after getting my engineering degree was working in aircraft radar design. Prior to electronic counter measures, military aircraft would fly beneath the radar in order not to be detected by enemy forces. This term Flying Below the Radar started out as a military phrase in the 1950’s.

Today we use the phrase Flying Below the Radar to signify something that goes undetected, that doesn’t stand out or call attention to itself. Many good ideas fly under the radar. Maybe some of them shouldn’t…
